"Penny Dreadful" Season 3 finale marked the end of the Eva Green-led series, which came as a disappointment to fans and viewers. "Penny Dreadful" Season 4 is very unlikely to happen on Showtime or in another network. The reason for this is because of the showrunner's decision to end the series with Vanessa Ives' (Eva Green) death.

Majority of shows on TV get cancelled due to poor ratings; however, "Penny Dreadful" Season 3 ended because the showrunner wanted to give it a fitting end through the death of Vanessa. Unfortunately, this reason did not sit well with fans and viewers of the show.

Chatt Sports Net stated that "Penny Dreadful" Season 3 may still live on for more seasons even without Vanessa in the story. A spinoff series was also hinted during an interview with Showtime president David Nevins, but this would be placed on the back burner for now.

There have been rumors that the "Penny Dreadful" spinoff may take place on Netflix since the online streaming giant has been known for picking up cancelled shows from other networks. An online petition was raised on change.org in hopes of seeing the show renewed for another season.

The "Penny Dreadful" spinoff would reportedly be filmed in Egypt and may focus on other characters aside from Vanessa. According to the aforementioned report, Vanessa seemed to be grooming Catriona as her successor, which fuelled speculations that the spinoff would focus on Catriona instead.
