New ‘Pokemon Go’ Update: ‘Nearby’ System And A Pop-Up On Driver’s Path?

Niantic has released a minor update for its instantly popular mobile game "Pokemon Go." Among the exciting new features is the revamped "Nearby" system, now called "Sightings." It also includes a reminder not to drive and play.

"Pokemon Go" has now renamed its nearby feature with "sightings" system, and now it shows you the actual picture of the Pokestop where you can catch a Pokemon, Kotaku reported. Before, the player is teased with creatures that are not even nearby at all. So unlike before, the players will be able to see Pokemons in the immediate general area. Duplicate creatures are removed and the monster list is updated more often than before. The publication noted that this new system is actually still a test and that the developers are working on making something better. That should be good news.

Meanwhile, the updated version also introduced a reminder that players should not play "Pokemon Go" while driving. Ironic as it may be because it's another distraction, the update includes a message that will pop-up on your screen when you are playing in moving vehicle, CNET reported. The reminder will appear if it detected that the player is moving above a certain speed and so you have to confirm that you are not driving to continue playing.

Niantic has also brought back the battery saver feature, as well as fixed the experience points corresponding to every "Nice," "Great," and "Excellent" throw the player makes. You can also change your nickname one time, so choose wisely. Other updates in the "Pokemon Go" game include improvements to the accuracy of a curveball throw, fix on achievements with incorrect medal icons, added visuals of team leaders, and some minor text fixes.
