PS4 Neo To Be Announced In September? Sony Calls for an NYC Press Conference In September

There has been a lot of talk about the latest offerings from technology companies regarding their video game consoles in the past couple of months. This is due to the fact, that consumers constantly want machines that are more powerful and are capable of doing more to cater to their needs. Now it seems as though, they will be getting their wish soon as Sony has announced an official event for September 7 and could possibly announce the new PS4 Neo then and there.

The event originally started as a rumor, but was quickly made official a day after by Sony, as per reports from PC Magazine. Journalists have been invited to the event in New York City, which has caused fans to theorize that details of the PS4 Neo is going to be announced. It seems Playstation fans are quite eager for this event, seeing how PS4 Neo was first confirmed back in June, but has still yet to be revealed.

The PS4 Neo or the so-called "PS4.5" is not an entirely new console, but more of a Playstation 4 with updated graphics and power (presumably to better handle VR technology) that still retains backwards compatibility with the current model of the PS4. The last part means that gamers need not worry about replacing their current PS4 game collection when they upgrade to the PS4 Neo, as per CNet.

The Christmas season would be an ideal release date for the PS4 Neo. However, it is also worth noting that competing companies such as Microsoft are also in the midst of developing updates to their current generation offerings. VR and 4K gaming have also been confirmed for the upcoming Microsoft Xbox update. It would be interesting to see what these companies cook up and if they actually listened to the complaints and suggestions of their fans. Sony PS4 Neo is expected is expected on Sepetember 7.
