'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8: Ian Somerhalder Sabotaging Nina Dobrev's Return? Wife Nikki Reed Supports Move?

With the show's producers and cast gearing for the final season in the upcoming "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, fans have been asking whether news of Nina Dobrev coming back to reprise her role as Elena Gilbert are true. Rumor has it, however, that while the showrunners Julie Plec and Kevin Michaelson are lobbying for the "Let's Be Cops" actress to sign on even just on a recurring role, co-star and former flame Ian Somerhalder is allegedly trying to sabotage any possible appearance of Dobrev in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8.

Somerhalder, who before "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 was announced as the last season also said he will be leaving the show, is said to be pulling all the strings possible just to prevent Dobrev from committing to a return, Celebrity Dirty Laundry reported. Somerhalder allegedly stomped his feet when Plec started talking about Dobrev as he does not want to upset wife Nikki Reed, who is already considering filing divorce. Somerhalder is said to be trying to convince Plec to use previous footage of Dobrev but the executive producer is said to be firm in her decision.

In other "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 news, TV Line reports that "Unreal" star Nathalie Kelley will be part of the show next season. She will play the "formidable femme fatale" Sybil (aka "evil herself") in a few episodes, joining previously announced recurring "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 cast members Kristen Gutoskie and Demetrius Bridges.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will start airing on Friday, October 20, at 8 pm. ET on the CW. What do you think about this latest "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 news?
