Football Transfer News: Mesut Ozil Rumored to Leave Arsenal

With the Barclays Premier League set to start in a few days, one of the league's most prestigious clubs, Arsenal, may lose one of their stars, Meśut Ozil, with talks that the German midfielder might return to his former club, the Spanish La Liga giant, Real Madrid.

The Arsenal Gunners stand to lose a great deal of firepower if Ozil, does decide to leave for a return to Madrid, with the 27-year old German playing a huge role in the Arsenal offense. Ozil is also the 4th top scorer for the English club, according to BBC Sport.

Though, there is still no confirmation of Ozil re-signing with Real Madrid, many are speculating that the former member of "Los Blancos", would like to return after Madrid won back-to-back UEFA Champions League titles without Ozil, and that he would want to return to the ranks of a winning team.

Arsenal's previous season was not as decorated as the likes of Real Madrid, after missing out on the English Premier League title, falling second to champions, Leicester City. According to the Irish Independent, Ozil feels he still has unfinished business at Madrid, and would immediately jump at the opportunity, if called up by Madrid. This is certainly alarming to the Arsenal fans ,as the German playmaker has already built a strong following in his three year stay with the club.

Ozil also commented on Arsenal's lack of summer transfer activity in the summer, as the English club is in desperate need of more depth. With Manchester United making big name transfers with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, and other clubs signing new players, Ozil says that Arsenal is falling behind in terms of transfers, according to Metro UK.

All of the rumors have been temporarily put to rest after Ozil tweeted a photo of him training in Arsenal gear, with the caption "Finally back in training with fully charged batteries! #AFC @Arsenal".

With the English Premier League only days away, there is still a possibility of a mid-season transfer for Ozil to Real Madrid.
