'Jane The Virgin' Season 3 Spoilers & News: Jane Has Mother-In-Law Problems, Photos Reveal Brett Dier Back On Set

Recent cast photos and pronouncements by the actors and show producers about Michael's (Brett Dier) fate suggest that the character is not going to die in "Jane the Virgin" Season 3. However, things aren't also going to be smooth-sailing either, especially when Jane's (Gina Rodriguez) new mother-in-law returns to take care of her son. What can possibly go wrong with this visit?

Conflict between Jane and her new mother-in-law (played by Molly Hagan) will be one of the problems that will be highlighted when "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 returns this fall. With Jane's husband shot at the end of last season, it follows that both important women in his life will go through the same struggles and fear of losing their beloved.

TV Guide reports that "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 will have Jane and her new mother-in-law butting heads instead of sorting out their issues. Viewers may recall that Michael's mother doesn't exactly approve of Jane after she broke off their first engagement, which left her son devastated in Season 1. Michael's family also didn't attend their wedding in protest of the couple's relationship. Will the two women ever reconcile?

Filming for "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 has officially started on the third week of August. The writers shared their first table read, which further boosted proof that Michael will be alright after being shot. According to Entertainment Weekly, the actors' first day back on the set doesn't show anyone mourning at all, so Michael's character is indeed safe from being written off the script.

Meanwhile, Gina Rodriguez revealed that one of the best aspects to playing a character like Jane on "Jane the Virgin" is that she's not expected to follow the usual Hollywood trend that requires actresses to be super slim. She shared to Self that when she lost weight after a bout with flu, network bosses asked her to regain her weight as soon as possible. "The way you were was perfect," the executives told Rodriguez.

Catch the cast of "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 when the show premieres on The CW on Monday, Oct. 17 at 9:00 p.m. The rest of the series can also be watched via streaming subscription service on Netflix.
