‘Pokemon GO’ Secrets: Do You Know The Hidden Challenge That Niantic Labs Linked To Poke Eggs?

"Pokemon GO" by Niantic Labs linked a special feature to the Poke Eggs in the game - incubating, which poses a hidden challenge for players. As with the classic Pokemon game by Nintendo, "Pokemon GO" players can grab their Poke Eggs from PokeStops but have to incubate these to reap the benefits.

In "Pokemon GO" players can collect three types of Poke Eggs, which may hatch after two kilometers, five kilometers or ten kilometers of walking. As RocketNews 24 points out, the more a "Pokemon GO" player walks the more quickly incubated Poke Eggs can hatch.

Most would see the end goals of the walking required in playing "Pokemon GO" to be getting to PokeStops, catching Pokemon and hatching incubated Poke eggs. However, Niantic Labs is reportedly after a different goal for "Pokemon GO" players.

The media outlet cites Japanese Twitter user @Toku_Hero on what Niantic Labs is really after in requiring Poke Egg incubation and hatching through walking in the "Pokemon GO" game. This is also the reason why "Pokemon GO" uses the geolocation feature of mobile gadgets, dropping Pokemon hunters into real maps.

"I think about 87% of Japanese people just think of Pokémon Go as a mobile game, I'd bet 50 Pikachus that most don't realize that it's based on Ingress," @Toku_Hero wrote. "Ingress was created based on the idea that as long as you have your battery fully charged, it's easy to walk five kilometers in a day [for the game]."

RocketNews 24 also cites response by Twitter user @SkalaNote to the observation @Toku_Hero made on "Pokemon GO." According to @holycowboy2099  a person can walk four kilometers on average in a single hour.

Using the more common five kilometer egg in "Pokemon GO" as basis, @holycowboy2099 points out that Niantic Labs is basically challenging Pokemon hunters to walk 75 minutes a day to play the game. Using Poke Eggs, Niantic Labs cleverly designed a way to help "Pokemon GO" players get in their basic quota of exercise.

How many Poke Eggs have you hatched since you played "Pokemon GO"? How many "Pokemon GO" Poke Eggs can you crack in a single day?
