‘Sherlock' Season 4 Air Date, News Update: Holmes, Irene Adler Reunion Teased By Thatcher Clue?

James Moriarty (Andrew Scott) is not the only one who threatens to return from the "grave" to haunt Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) in "Sherlock Season 4" but so is Irene Adler (Lara Pulver), who is supposed to have been executed in "A Scandal In Belgravia." Is "Sherlock Season 4" going to break Holmes' heart again?

Analysis by Games Radar locked onto the clues that producer-writer Steven Moffat, writer-actor Mark Gatiss (Mycroft Holmes) and executive producer Sue Vertue dropped at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con for "Sherlock Season 4." According to Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss and Sue Vertue "Sherlock" series fans should watch out for "Thatcher," "Smith" and Sherrinford."

  Thatcher, according to the media outlet, does not likely pertain to a case dig up in "Sherlock Season 4" directly connected to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Instead, the "Sherlock Season 4" clue may be linked to "The Six Thatchers," which John Watson (Martin Freeman) wrote of in his blog.

Interestingly, "The Six Thatchers" was referenced in "Sherlock Season 2," A Scandal In Belgravia." This is the same episode that Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes had his heartbreak over the loss of Irene Adler.

Parent Herald cites reports quoting Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss that "Sherlock Season 4" will bring adventure, terror and romance to Holmes and John Watson. Note that John Watson is about to have a child with Mary (Amanda Abbington) in Season 4, while Sherlock Holmes remains a free agent.

Could Irene Adler return to Holmes in "Sherlock Season 4" after they parted ways when he rescued her from execution at S2? At the moment, three key characters are on the watch list especially after the "Sherlock Season 4" trailer released at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con: James Moriarty, Sherrinford Holmes and Irene Adler.

The cast of the BBC, series as well as Mark Gatiss, equivocally stated that "Sherlock Season 4" has tragedy in store. If Irene Adler does return to Holmes, chances are "Sherlock Season 4" won't give them a happy ending.
