"Scream" Season 3 renewal, cancellation news reveal that the MTV drama is highly unlikely to get renewed for a third season. According to TV Series Finale, Season 2's ratings only pulled in an average of 0.19 in the 18-49 demographics or 380,000 viewers.

This is a huge drop from the not-so-good ratings from "Scream" Season 1 at 0.34 or 750,000. This means that the likelihood of a Season 3 happening is very uncertain if MTV will base its renewal on ratings alone.

However, many fans expressed their hopes that MTV would renew the show for "Scream" Season 3. In an interview with TVLine, showrunners Michael Gans and Richard Register also shared their thoughts on what could possibly happen if MTV decides to give the show another year on TV.

Gans told the publication that in "Scream" Season 3, Kieran's existence will continue to haunt everyone despite the fact that he is already in prison. Gans teased that his existence alone means endless possibilities for the characters.

"Kieran's alive, which means anything can happen," he teased.

"Scream" Season 3 spoilers also hint that the phone call at the end of Season 2 finale will have a link to the town's history. This is expected to be explored in the possible upcoming season.

Fans and viewers may also see whether or not Brandon James is alive in "Scream" Season 3. As seen in the Season 2 finale, there was a note, which seemingly hints at his character's existence.
