‘Pokémon GO’ Top Myths, Tips & Tricks Debunked: Here’s What True & False Among Those Rumors

Plenty of "Pokémon GO" tips and tricks have surfaced online since the game rose to fame more than a month ago. While some of those tips and tricks are legitimate, there are ones who are unfounded and are pure myths.

Folks from CNET and BGR have compiled a list of all the false "Pokémon GO" tips and tricks. One of those myths is the ability to reclaim Poké Balls after throwing it on a Pokémon and failing to catch it. The rumor -- which has a really sensible foundation -- claimed that the Poké Ball can be picked back up by tapping on the item. Some players, however, have tested this to no such luck.

Another rumor claimed that rain attracts Water-Type Pokémon like Magikarp, which was debunked in a YouTube video from "Pokémon GO" community The Silph Road. It's true that some Pokémon can be easily spotted in certain environments and climates such as bodies of water (Water-Type Pokémon) and in deserts (Fire-Type Pokémon), but it doesn't work that way all the time.

The same can be said for Ghost-Type Pokémon like Ghastly, Haunter, and Gengar, which, according to rumors, can be found easily in graveyards. The majority of Pokémon spawns in "Pokémon GO" pop up randomly in places that are not connected with their type.

The current version of "Pokémon GO" doesn't have Legendary Pokémon yet, so you should rule out wishing to catch one - for now. The upcoming Generation 2 update of Niantic has a code in it that strongly hints of Legendary Pokémon.

"Pokémon GO" doesn't have Shiny Pokémon either. Those creatures have a different coloring than the normal Pokémon players are used to. They might be introduced to the game in the future, though.

You should also dismiss rumors claiming that the size of the Pokémon matters during Gym battles. Each Pokémon has their own Combat Power and Individual Power, and those aspects are the most important during battles, not the creatures' height.

Another rumor claimed that Incense only works when a "Pokémon GO" player is walking or moving. CNET wrote that Incense still works and attracts Pokémon even though the player is standing or sitting still, but the item actually performs better when the player walks or moves.

There are beliefs that trainers will never catch all Pokémon in "Pokémon GO" because some of the creatures are region-specific, meaning they can only be found in certain locations. Don't lose hope, though. People claimed on a Reddit thread that they got region-specific Pokémon from other countries by hatching them from eggs.
