Marvel’s ‘New Warriors’ Set For TV Debut; Squirrel Girl Part of the Team

A new Marvel TV show will make it's TV debut as the "New Warriors" is currently under development by Marvel studios and ABC. Also, the new series will feature Marvel's Doreen Green a.k.a. Squirrel Girl.

The brand new show, according to TV Line, will be a half-hour comedy series focused on the lesser know Marvel characters, the "New Warriors," and the happy-go-lucky and quirkily charming, Squirrel Girl.

The "New Warriors" are a superhero team consisting of teenage and young adult heroes, which serve as a younger counterpart to "The Avengers." The original "New Warriors" team composed of "Night Thrasher", the groups leader, "Firestar," "Justice," "Namorita," "Nova," and "Speedball." As of now, there currently no news as to which members of the "New Warriors" will be featured on the show, except for Squirrel Girl.

Squirrel Girl, which her name suggests, is a girl that has possesses squirrel like powers. She is currently featured in the "Ultimate Spider-Man" animated series, and has become quite the fan favorite. Squirrel Girl's powers include the proportional speed and strength of a squirrel (which makes her stronger and faster than the average human), and the ability to communicate with her massive squirrel army.

Squirrel Girl has recently become the center of attention among Marvel's superheroes, as Anna Kendrick has recently expressed an interest in portraying the witty and hard-hitting heroine. In an interview with Net-a-Porter, the Pitch Perfect star says that her brother gave her a copy of the Squirrel Girl comic because he though she (Kendrick) could play the role. Marvel directors, The Russo brothers, also commented she could definitely play the part of the nutty superhero.

Another actress that could definitely play the role of Squirrel Girl is "Stranger Things" star Shannon Purser, who plays "Barb" in the Netflix original series, says Slash Film.

Currently, there is not much information on the "New Warriors" TV adaptation yet, and everything is still kept under wraps by the developers.
