MMA News: Rashad Evans and Tim Kennedy Confirmed for UFC 205

UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden this coming November will have another confirmed fight that hopefully won't be called off, as "Suga" Rashad Evans is set to face Tim Kennedy in a middleweight bout on the main card.

Evans will have his wish granted in bout against Kennedy as he had previously expressed how much he wanted to be in the UFC 205 card. The former light-heavyweight champion and top contender, who is a native of New York, said that he would love to put on a show for his hometown crowd.

Evans, in an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour says of the opportunity to fight in his hometown, "It is absolutely perfect, I couldn't write anything better myself to be able to hopefully have an opportunity to compete in this card." Evans also added that he plans on using the opportunity to prove once that he is still among the UFC's elite, and make a run for another UFC belt.

Coming down to middleweight was a bit of a career-reset for Evans, who suffered back-to-back losses while fighting in the light-heavyweight division, with his most recent loss to Glover Teixeira via TKO. Evans also had his fair share of injuries over the years, which has limited him to only five UFC fights in 3 years, according to FOX Sports. "Suga" will have his hands full in his middleweight debut, facing Kennedy who is a perennial middleweight contender.

Kennedy, a top contender in the middleweight division, has not competed in the UFC since 2014, following a controversial loss to Yoel Romero at UFC 178. Since his time away from the Octagon, Kennedy has appeared in numerous television shows, such as the History Channel's "Hunting Hitler." Kennedy himself is a soldier in the US Special Forces, and is currently ranked #11 on the stacked middleweight division of the UFC.
