NBA Free Agency News: Mario Chalmers To Land In Sacramento Kings; Chalmers To Play As A Perimeter Defender For The Kings

Mario Chalmers hasn't found yet his destination this coming NBA season. Though still in the NBA free agent pool, with his talent, "Chalmers" is sure to find his home, a team that needs his service like the Sacramento Kings.

Wearing a Memphis Grizzlies jersey last season, Mario Chalmers finished last season with 10.8 points which is a career high, considering "Chalmers" is now playing off the bench with 22.8 minutes of playing time. Along with an impressive 42% shooting from the field with very limited attempts, it proves that Mario Chalmers is a good contributor to a team.

As for the Sacramento Kings, with Darren Collison and Ty Lawson on point guard position, they may struggle on defense as both players can be undersized. As per the Fan Sided reported, Mario Chalmers can also provide great perimeter defense for the Kings.

If the Sacramento Kings able to acquire Mario Chalmers, they would have a chance for a competitive night against great scoring point guards such as Russell Westbrook and Derrick Rose. In the Basketball Reference Chart, it shows that "Chalmers" has a 100.8 defensive rating with 1.4 steal per game. This means Mario Chalmers can provide good perimeter coverage while watching out the passing lane for the Kings.

The Sacramento Kings could also sign Mario Chalmers in a veteran minimum that would give them a good stretch for their salary cap. The Sacramento Kings obviously need to work on their roster as they are also planning to send out Rudy Gay.

With this scenario, both Mario Chalmers and the Sacramento Kings would help each other. "Chalmers" can provide the defense that the Kings need, as the Kings can also give Chalmers the opportunity to continue his NBA career.

The Sacramento Kings haven't been in the NBA Playoffs for 10 years and was last seen in the NBA Playoffs back in 2006 losing to the Spurs in 6 games. The Kings might not want to make it more than a decade of absence in the NBA Playoffs knowing that their main-man DeMarcus Cousins have the probability not to re-sign with them.
