‘Overwatch’ Character Sombra Release Date From Blizzard Revealed? Blizzcon 2016 Linked?

Blizzard's "Overwatch" has been out since the middle of 2016 and its popularity hasn't seemed to wane. Excellent post-release support from Blizzard for "Overwatch" is partly to thank here.

Among these are the new "Overwatch" map and new character with which Blizzard immediately followed the main release. Release by Blizzard of the "Overwatch" competitive mode was made more impressive by continued improvement.

The Olympic-themed Summer Games event, which Forbes reported on, was also a welcome surprise for "Overwatch" fans. What takes the cake, however, are the numerous and finely tuned "Overwatch" characters that keep Blizzard fans coming back for more.

The first new "Overwatch" character addition was Ana, the Egyptian healer/sniper. This was unexpected as Blizzard fans were fully expecting the "Overwatch" character addition to the 22-hero roster was Sombra.

Clues relating to this mysterious Sombra have been dotted around "Overwatch." What little "Overwatch" fans know for sure is that Sombra is a stealth villain.

Furthermore, Sombra is in some ways connected to Reaper. The city level of Dorado in "Overwatch" has some significance with newspapers and screen on the level referring to Sombra.

This same "Overwatch" level, while peppered with Sombra clues also has references to Jack Morrison (aka. Soldier 76), who is another former associate of Reaper. The screens in Dorado (and other levels) indicate hacking attempts by Sombra, an ability she may actually use as a playable Overwatch.

"Overwatch" fans that have been drilling the clues uncovered an ARG (augmented reality) game that may have finally revealed Blizzard's release date on Sombra. The Sombra logo was uncovered and seen to resemble the symbol for the Mexican Day of the Dead.

In "Overwatch" the city Dorado is located in Mexico. The 2016 Day of the Dead Lands a few days before Blizzcon on November 2016. An announcement or reveal of the origin story on Sombra may occur a few days after the appearance of the "Overwatch" character on or around the Day of the Dead.

Given her abilities, Sombra may be a stealth support and - with her hacking - sabotage character, much like the spy in Valve's "Team Fortress 2." Of course, this speculation by Parent Herald is based on numerous "Overwatch" fan efforts in following the trail on Sombra.

By far this "Overwatch" character release date speculation on Sombra may be the closest to her inevitable appearance. Blizzard's "Overwatch" is available now on Xbox One, PC and PS4.
