Why Hot & Sexy Moms Are Parading Like Models At School Drop Offs In New York - Is It Superficiality Or Empowerment?

There's a noticeable growing trend among mothers in New York. During school drop offs, they are usually seen assisting their children get to school in their most fashionable clothes, perfect hair and make-up. These hot and sexy moms do draw some attention because of how they look and carry themselves. Some say it's like watching models parading on the runway.

"I've seen the trend more and more of moms dressing up for drop off," Lyss Stern, a mom blogger, told the New York Post. Most of these hot and sexy moms are the stay-at-home mothers (SAHM) that perhaps want to feel good about themselves.

One SAHM admits that she looks forward to school drop offs precisely because dressing up and showing off is the highlight of her day. Another mother said that while it is exciting, there's also some pressure to look good. "New York moms care a lot about fitting in with each other," Caitlin, a 45-year-old SAHM, told the news outlet.

So, does this trend among New York moms promote superficiality? Not quite so. According to Slate, for years, the image of a SAHM has been that of a frumpy parent who doesn't make an effort to care about her looks. It's why mom jeans and bad haircuts exist because SAHMs were often equated with low-maintenance moms.

Fortunately, there has been a shift in this perception with the emergence of these hot and sexy moms. For them, looking good actually helps with self-esteem building. It is empowering and it pushes the feminism agenda of allowing women to feel good about who they are.

These New York moms, however, still observe an unspoken rule about dressing up and parading at school drop offs because the tendency to go overboard might bring the wrong notion -- or worse, embarrass their children. "I feel sexier now than before I had kids. I can rock it," Jane, an SAHM who used to be a model, told New York Post. "You can wear short things, but it can still have elegance."
