The "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 premiere introduces a new partnership in Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane and Janina Gavankar as Homeland Special Agent Diana. After a three-season run in Sleepy Hollow, New York with former partner Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie), the FOX series relocates Ichabod Crane to Washington, D.C. in Season 4 with a brand new team.

  However, a professional decision by Nicole Beharie to leave the FOX series called for an exit by Abbie Mills in the "Sleepy Hollow" Season 3 finale that fans had not been expecting. The backlash of Abbie Mills' self-sacrifice in the "Sleepy Hollow" Season 3 finale was such that long-time fans indicated unwillingness to continue watching Ichabod Crane in his new adventures in S4.

Entertainment Focus points out that the developing partnership of Abbie Mills and Ichabod Crane had been the main reason why fans of the FOX series continued to watch "Sleepy Hollow." As far as storyline, however, is concerned the media outlet acknowledges that the "Sleepy Hollow" series could be better than it had been in the last three seasons.
