'Humans' Season 2 Air Date, Teaser & News: AMC Sets 2017 Return In US; Where Are Mia & Niska Hiding Out?

"Humans," the AMC sci-fi series that also airs in the United Kingdom, is expected to return to the cable network in early 2017. The second season of the show is reportedly going to turn darker, as the synths or androids become more aware of their being.

Crucial to fans is the fate of Mia (Gemma Chan) and Niska (Emily Berrington). In the last season, the two central characters were forced to hide away. Where have Mia and Niska been holed since and what can fans expect when "Humans" return?

AMC has scheduled "Humans" Season 2 for a February 2017 premiere for viewers in the United States. The announcement was made on the cable network's Twitter profile. However, viewers in the United Kingdom will be able to watch the second season's eight episodes ahead. Digital Spy reports that it will premiere on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 9 p.m. in U.K.'s Channel 4.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Mia will be hiding out separately from her other synth friends in a nondescript seaside town in "Humans" Season 2. She's going to work in a cafe and will have a friend in the cafe's owner, Ed (Sam Palladio). "For the first time in her life, she's got a chance to find out a bit more about who she is," Gemma Chan says of her character in "Humans" Season 2.

While Mia is in safer place, Niska will continue to be paranoid about being on the run. "Humans" viewers might recall that she has something of value that certain high-powered people are searching for. In her possession are the codes that will make the androids conscious, which could either save or wipe out all synths like her.

Viewers will also be introduced to new societies and new villains in "Humans" Season 2. "Things are developing fast, as technology does in all areas," writer Sam Vincent said, per another Digital Spy report. Check out the new teaser to "Humans" in the video below.
