However, "TVD" is already on its final season, while the rate of its spinoff spiral downwards. Reports have it that Plec is desperate to save "The Originals" and will have Nina Dobrev return to both shows.

Nina Dobrev's return in "The Vampire Diaries" is the best ending that most "TVD" fans can think of, especially if the production covers the Delena or Stelena plot. Dobrev's return in the "TVD" finale remains unknown but many are positive that the actress will show up and meet her evil self, Katherine Pierce.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Nina Dobrev's Katherine Pierce will destroy the Salvatore Brothers, whom "TVD" fans are wishing to have a happy ending with Elena. Then after creating havoc in Mystic Falls, Pierce will move to New Orleans and partner with Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) to keep Klaus weak and destroy the Mikaelson family.

Reports are rife that Nina Dobrev will return in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 as Katherine Pierce and not as Elena. Although fans want to see Delena or Stelena, chances are slim that this will happen.

For this reason, having Nina Dobrev back as Katherine Pierce is another way for the actress to return in the "The Vampire Diaries" finale. After all, some fans are just concerned to see Dobrev back no matter what her character is. However, for most, waking up Elena in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 and reuniting her with Damon remains the best ending.
