Android 7.1 Nougat OS [RELEASE DATE, LATEST NEWS UPDATES]: Why Is It Only Available On Certain Phones?

Android's master developer Google, launched Android 7.0 Nougat OS last August with a few overdue updates and just about a few weeks later, the tech giant released a teaser on Android 7.1 Nougat OS in beta update and few new features through a Made By Google event. The new features include instant chat support and auto data uploading.

On Oct. 11, 2016, Google announced that the Android 7.1 Nougat OS in Beta preview will be available by the end of October. Unfortunately, it will only be supported by a few phones like Nexus 5P and 6P, as well as the tech giant's own Pixel C, according to Engadget. The rest of the phones could download the Android 7.1 Nougat in Beta by December.

Google confirmed that the Android 7.1 Nougat OS in Beta will come with Google's Daydream VR, a high quality mobile VR platform. As repowered, the Android 7.1 Nougat in Beta also comes with an array of latest features that would enable developers to boost the functionality to their apps. Custom shortcuts and image keyboard support are just some of the added features that will also be available on Android 7.1 Nougat, as reported by Inquirer.

"Android 7.1 is an incremental release, but it's always important to make sure your apps look and run great - especially as devices start to reach consumers," Android's Engineering Vice President Dave Burke said.

It was also confirmed that the Android 7.1 Nougat OS will also introduce APIs that allow "multi-endpoint calling and telephony configuration." As for people who always look for things to delete and free up space, developers have some good news as they will be able to route users to a Settings page where unused files can be disposed, Wired reports.

Meanwhile, Google has yet to announce the definite date for the release of the Android 7.1 Nougat update. But the multinational tech firm has been urging tech buffs and other people to apply at the Android Beta site to have the chance to try and play with the software before the official release of the Android 7.1 Nougat OS update.
