‘Wayward Pines’ Season 3 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Humans, Abbies Alliance To Form In Fox Series? Humans Are The Aberrations?

"Wayward Pines" Season 3 from Fox and showrunner M. Night Shyamalan based on the original trilogy by author Blake Crouch, will continue the dynamics among Abbies (aberrations) and humans. As the "Wayward Pines" series closes the overall arc by Season 3, an alliance is anticipated to form among humans and Abbies.

Author and co-producer Blake Crouch explained to Entertainment Weekly that "Wayward Pines Season 3" will complete the story-telling on the human attempt to escape evolution. In "Wayward Pines" Season 1, Fox series fans came to know the secret base that founder David Pilcher (Toby Jones) built.

Wayward Pines was essentially created in anticipation of a coming apocalypse. The method of selection for, and the manner by which surviving humans were assimilated into, Wayward Pines were highly suspect.

Researcher Dr. David Pilcher discovered that as a result of human choices and consumption, Earth will change and so will humans. Although the creation of Wayward Pines was well-meant, the visionary effectually turned humans themselves into the aberrations of the future.

Cloaked in mystery and suspense, the "Wayward Pines" series was an impressive social commentary. Inside and outside of "Wayward Pines" humans remained persistent in their self-destruction.

In "Wayward Pines" Season 1, the town that David Pilcher built and the society that was formed was all almost destroyed by humans. In "Wayward Pines" Season 2, humans tried to rise from the debacle of S1 but continued to make the same mistakes.

Interestingly, "Wayward Pines" Season 2 illustrated how humans seemed to be more savage toward each other than Abbies among themselves. Abbies were not docile by any means, but instead seemed savage carnivores who terrified the inhabitants of Wayward Pines.

However, despite being likened to unthinking animals, the Abbies had more loyalty and respect for each other than the humans of Wayward Pines did for each other. Nonetheless, humans continued to assume a sense of entitlement over nature and each other, which led to the cliffhanger of the "Wayward Pines" Season 2 finale.

A point of note is the interaction between Abbie queen Margaret (Rochelle Okoye) and explorer Adam Hassler (Tim Griffin). Adam Hassler helped Margaret escape her captors in Wayward Pines.

In turn, Margaret helped Adam Hassler safely pass through the mob of Abbies outside the gate of Wayward Pines when all hell broke loose. This seems a tease that "Wayward Pines" Season 3, while exploring the extinction of humans, may also venture into an extraordinary alliance.

Perhaps "Wayward Pines" Season 3 will see humans accepting the twilight of their existence and passing their learnings onto the intellectually adept Abbies. As such humans and Abbies may enjoy a short period of co-existence in "Wayward Pines" Season 3 until the last pure human dies.

Fox is currently waiting for multi-platform rating results for "Wayward Pines" Season 2. Should "Wayward Pines" Season 3 be confirmed, a midseason release date in 2017 is expected.
