'Red Dead Redemption 2' News & Update: Fall 2017 Release Date; Possible New Multiplayer Feature?

The wait is finally over for fans of "Red Dead Redemption," as the release date of the followup to the epic Western third-person shooter, "Red Dead Redemption 2," has finally been revealed. The new installment of the "Red Dead" franchise will have a Fall 2017 launch.

It has been a long time coming for "Red Dead Redemption," as fans have eagerly waited for a new chapter of the Western open-world action adventure series. After the release of "Red Dead Redemption" back in 2010, many looked forward to more of the cowboy gunslinger, John Martson, who was named Gamespot and IGN's Best New Character of that year.

Now, 7 years later, fans will have a new "Red Dead" adventure with the possibilities of Martson coming back, or a new hero, to wreak havoc and take over the American West in "Red Dead Redemption 2." Developers, Rockstar Games, have set the release date of "Red Dead Redemption 2" to be in the fall of 2017, as well as a new trailer which will be revealed on October 20.

The new "Red Dead Redemption 2" is billed as an "epic tale of life in America's unforgiving heartland," as it says on the game's teaser poster, which shows a silhouette of a band of gunslingers walking away from the scorching sun in the American dessert. The gunslingers could possibly be the new protagonists of "Red Dead Redemption 2" or the new villains, though nothing has been confirmed yet by Rockstar Games.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" will bring a new multiplayer feature for the gameplay, which could mean an online multiplayer battleground, like "Red Dead Redemption," or it could possibly have more than one player to take part in the story's main campaign.

According to Wired, "Red Dead Redemption 2" might not be available on Playstation 4, as the revealed release date did not include one for the Sony console. The game can now be pre-ordered on the "Red Dead Redemption 2" site.
