'The Elder Scrolls 6' Release Date, News, Latest Updates: ‘Skyrim’ Successor From Bethesda Guaranteed? Protagonist Adjustment For ‘TES’ Coming?

Release of "The Elder Scrolls 6" by Bethesda comes with a stronger guarantee after "Skyrim" success and the anticipated popularity of "Skyrim Remastered" ("The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" Special Edition). Granted "The Elder Scrolls 6" will be a long time coming as Pete Hines (PR and Marketing Vice President at Bethesda) revealed, yet the fact remains that "TES 6" is in no danger of cancellation.

"The Elder Scrolls 6" buzz escalated after E3 2016 when Todd Howard, Bethesda game director, revealed that "TES 6" is in the pipeline along with two major projects by the "Skyrim" developer. Digital Spy points out that the cautionary statement by Pete Hines on the current cease in development of "The Elder Scrolls 6" may be management of public expectation for "TES 6."

Given, however, the tease by Todd Howard that "The Elder Scrolls 6" will be using a much-changed technology, so much so that "TES 6" technology may not even be in existence yet, Gaming Bolt asks whether "Skyrim" fans are ready for one main change. Pointing to the move of using voiced protagonists in "Fallout 4," the media outlet looks into whether or not "The Elder Scrolls" fans are ready to see Bethesda give the "Skyrim" successor a similar treatment.

Gaming Bolt qualifies that using voiced protagonist in "Fallout 4" is a misfire and could only have worked if the treatment is in the same caliber as the voiced protagonists in "The Witcher." As far as "The Elder Scrolls 6" goes, the media outlet proposes that keeping the "TES" franchise free of voiced protagonists could only strengthen assurance of fan satisfaction.

If Bethesda follows old patterns, "TES" fans would hear the official word on "The Elder Scrolls 6" from Bethesda 11 months or thereabouts before the "Skyrim" successor is to be released. Digital Spy notes that Bethesda officially announced "Skyrim" in December 2010 and released "The Elder Scrolls 5" in November 2011.

GameSpot reports that "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" Special Edition will be available for PC at 12 AM UTC on Friday, October 28. "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" Special Edition will be available for XBox One and PS4 at 12AM ET on October 28 and 12 AM locally for European territories.
