'The Walking Dead' Season 7 Review: Premiere Too Violent For Parents Television Council; Would This Stop Producers From Producing Gorier, Merciless Episodes?

"The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere sent shockwaves internationally after two deaths were featured in the first episode and the Parents Television Council expressed that they believe it was too violent. However, the producers of "The Walking Dead" said that the death of Glenn and Abraham were just the start of a possible gorier and merciless season.

Time reported that the Parents Television Council believed "The Walking Dead" Season 7 Episode 1 was graphically violent. They were referring to the way Glenn and Abraham were killed as Negan used a bat to smash their heads off. The president of Parents Television Council, Tim Winter, said in a statement that the premiere of "The Walking Dead" Season 7 was violent enough that they were forced to change the channel.

Winter said that "The Walking Dead" Season 7's rating, which is Mature Audience Only, should have a more severe rating than that.

"The Walking Dead" showrunner and creators have not yet commented on that but the producers of the show said that the devastating deaths of Glenn and Abraham were only the start of a possibly gory and more violent "TWD" Season. People reported that "The Walking Dead" Season 7 Episode 1 entitled "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be" also showed Rick almost chopping his son Carl's left arm off.

Scott M. Gimple, the showrunner of "TWD," and Robert Kirkman, the creator of the AMC series, appeared on "Talking Dead" right after the premiere and they shared that the most difficult thing about writing the script for "The Walking Dead" Season 7 was what would break Rick.

Kirkman said that the introduction of Negan on "The Walking Dead" in the Season 7 premiere was a way to say that the show is veering towards something new. In the past seasons, there were no villains as vicious as Negan was portrayed and the survival was mainly about the walkers and not other groups. Kirkman added, "We still have a lot more to do. We're setting the stage for a lot more to come. There is so much that comes out of this scene that has to be resolved."

Gimple said that more characters and more worlds will be introduced on "The Walking Dead" Season 7.
