‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7 Episode 2 Spoilers & Promo: Episode Titles Hold Secret Clues? Rick Out, Negan In Charge

The premiere episode of "The Walking Dead" was brutal in both the physical and emotional sense. As many viewers know by now, the identities of who Negan (Jeffrey Dean Mogan) killed were revealed and it's no other than Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn (Steven Yeun).

"The Walking Dead" kept a tight lid on who Negan killed, with the cast resorting to lying to the press so the big reveal won't get spilled ahead of its time. The efforts appeared to have paid off as plenty of fans were shocked, deflated, and of course -- angry.

It appeared that Abraham was the only one on the receiving end of Negan's trusty bat Lucille, but Daryl (Norman Reedus) had an outburst that prompted Negan to demonstrate his power over Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his friends. This was where the big baddie turned his sights on Glenn and bashed the former pizza delivery boy's head repeatedly until it got reduced into a mere pulp.

Where "The Walking Dead" will go beyond this big reveal is still unknown at this point, but folks from TVGuide pointed out that the highly popular AMC series' upcoming episodes secretly tease patterns.

The titles of the first three episodes of "The Walking Dead" Season 7 are "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be," "The Well," and "The Cell," respectively. The title of the premiere episode came from Season 1, specifically from Dr. Edwin Jenner (Noah Emmerich) of Atlanta's Center for Disease Control.

In Season 1 of "The Walking Dead," Rick told the doctor that he's grateful, to which Jenner answered, "The day will come when you won't be." At the time, Rick's group was temporarily imprisoned in the soon-to-explode building but Jenner ultimately let them go after a confrontation.

The Season 7 premiere of "The Walking Dead" wasn't directly linked to that Season 1 episode. But it stayed in Rick's perspective and certainly highlighted whether he should still be thankful for surviving the post-apocalyptic world instead of just allowing himself and his group to be casualties of Jenner's suicide.

Episode two of "The Walking Dead" titled "The Well" could be a reference to the "Cherokee Rose" episode from Season 2. That was where Rick's group knew about the bloated Well Walker, which polluted the drinking water in Hershel's (Scott Wilson) farm after getting stuck in the well. That episode was when Glenn and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) first had sex, jumpstarting their romance.

"The Well" airs on Sunday, Oct. 30. In the promo embedded below, Rick was seen letting go of his leadership status, saying that Negan is in charge now.
