'Mulan' Live-Action Cast News & Updates: Fans Want 'Marco Polo' Stars Claudia Kim & Remy Hii As Leads

With the live-action treatment of "Mulan" under way, fans are already coming up with some ideas about casting. Leading their list of choices are the Asian actors of the Netflix drama "Marco Polo" -- Claudia Kim for Mulan and Remy Hii for Li Shang.

However, no official casting announcement has been made about the live-action treatment for "Mulan" just yet. What has been confirmed so far is that two studios are doing separate takes on the story of the legendary Chinese heroine.

After the announcement that there is going to be a live-action version of "Mulan," fans have eagerly come up with a list of actors who could star in the epic movie. Netflix's "Marco Polo" stars Claudia Kim and Remy Hii are some of the strongest picks, if only fans can have it their way.

Claudia Kim is from South Korea but has spent her childhood in New Jersey. Remy Hii is from Australia but has a Chinese-Malaysian father. Cinema Blend cites that Claudia Kim is ripe for a lead role that could seal her stardom, after having worked in blockbuster movie "Avengers: Age of Ultron." She is also part of the highly anticipated "Dark Tower" feature.

Screen Rant cites that Remy Hii is an "outstanding newcomer" in the acting business. He has received acting awards in his home country in his short but flourishing career.

Sony is mounting its own "Mulan" live-action and has already hired "Game of Thrones" director Alex Graves. Disney is also doing a live feature that will follow its 1996 animated "Mulan" film. The studio has set its release date for November 2018, as Parent Herald reports.
