GOP Nominee Donald Trump's Star At Hollywood Walk Of Fame Destroyed With A Sledge Hammer; LA Police Investigating

Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was reportedly destroyed using a sledgehammer. The attack was said to have commenced before dawn and the Los Angeles Police is now investigating the matter.

The attack on the GOP nominee's star comes less than two weeks before the election proper and shortly after the early elections have started in some of the states in the U.S. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which maintains the tourist attraction, said that they would immediately fix Donald Trump's star but it would be taking a few days before it would be visible to the onlookers again, The Washington Post reported.

Det. Meghan Aguilar said in a statement that officers were called to the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday on reports that the star of Donald Trump was destroyed. Authorities were able to recover a construction hat, a vest, a pick, and a sledgehammer near the area where the destruction took place, said Officer Sal Ramirez. The incident took place at around 5:45 A.M. and police were called 15 minutes after.

E! News reported that a man claimed responsibility over the attack on Donald Trump's star. The man identified himself as Jamie Otis. Jamie Otis said that he wanted to remove the star of Donald Trump and auction it online in order to raise funds for the 11 women who have come forward claiming that they were groped or kissed without any permission by the GOP nominee. The real-estate mogul has denied the claims that he inappropriately touched or kissed women without their consent.

President/CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Leron Gubler said in a statement that they hope people would express their dismay to one of the honorees at the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a positive manner and not vandalize or destroy a landmark. He added, "Our democracy is based on respect for the law. People can make a difference by voting and not destroying public property."

It is unclear what charges will be filed against the perpetrator but Leron Gubler said that they intend to prosecute to the full extent of the law. Donald Trump has not yet commented on the matter.
