Android 7.0, 7.1 Nougat Latest News Update, Release Date: How To Install Latest Android OS For LG Google Nexus 5

LG Nexus 5 users, rejoice! Android 7.0 Nougat can now finally be installed to the LG model through a custom ROM.

It was a bit appalling for LG Nexus 5 users after the model has been excluded from the list of smartphones that will receive the latest Android firmware. But luckily, Smart Stock News shares steps on how to get Android 7.0 Nougat running in the globally lauded LG model.

First, make sure that the LG Google Nexus 5 unit is rooted with custom recovery. Team OctOs Android and ROM (which can be downloaded here), as well as GApps files for Nougat (to be downloaded here) are needed to get the firmware.

Download the two needed software mentioned above. Keep in mind to choose the ROM zip file by navigating to the Hammerhead section. Then, try connecting the LG Google Nexus 5 unit to a computer and copy the files to the root of LG Google Nexus 5's internal storage.

ROM can be installed by putting the unit into a Recovery Mode. This can be enabled by shutting down the unit first, and then by holding volume up, volume down and power buttons for a few seconds until the fast boot menu shows up and then choose Recovery Mode.

As soon as the phone is in Recovery Mode, press Wipe and then confirm factory resetting. From there, press Install and then select the two downloaded files earlier (ROM and GApps zip files) from the root of LG Google Nexus 5's internal memory.

Select the files and then swipe to confirm. The process should just be short, about 10 minutes. Also, make sure to back up personal files first as this process will wipe away entire data.

LG Google models that received Android 7.0 Nougat include Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 9, Nexus 6, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G (Android One). Android 7.0 Nougat update (Android Nougat 7.1) will be released sometime in December.
