Teen ‘Carnapers’ Found 3-Year-Old Boy At The Backseat Of A Car They Stole, ‘What Are You Doing?’ The Toddler Asked

"What are you doing?" Asked a 3-year-old toddler to two thieves while sitting in the backseat of his grandmother's stolen car. The said toddler is now safe after an adult and teenager stole the car the toddler was in.

The child's grandmother parked the vehicle outside Dixie Food Mart on Dixie Highway at Mary Catherine Drive and left the car running and her grandson inside while she went to the store to buy a newspaper. The boy and the car were gone shortly after the grandmother left. Two thieves stole the car, according to Shively police.

The child was not recognized by the thieves at first. However, they realized quickly after the toddler asked them on what they are doing. "What are you doing?" the boy, who was in the back seat, asked the thieves as quoted by Tucson News Now. Immediately they dropped the boy off at Luken Drive and ditched the vehicle.

Soon after, Shively authorities responded and found the child including the vehicle. The child is unharmed according to the police. "The child obviously is doing fine - not harmed physically in any way - and was able to talk to us and give us a statement, which is fantastic," WDRB quoted Detective Josh Myers of the Shively Police Department as saying.

Authorities said the thieves escaped on foot towards eastbound but were caught in the 3700 block of 7th Street Road. Luckily, the thieves did not get too far after they took notice of the toddler in the backseat.

A neighbor of the child narrated to the police that the vehicle was sitting right in that shade, pointing to where the car was ditched. He also showed to the police the tracks of the car when it went out.

Meanwhile, the police arrested Darrick Murphy, 18, and one 17-year-old teenage boy after caught on a pursuit. The teens were charged with wanton endangerment, stealing and evading or fleeing from the police. Police did not charge the suspects with kidnapping as they did not know the toddler was in the vehicle when they took it unlawfully.
