'Luke Cage' Season 2 Air Date, Latest News & Updates: Netflix Series To Highlight Marvel Villains Shades & Comanche In S2?

Marvel Netflix series "Luke Cage" Season 2, with star Mike Colter, will bring in new characters possibly return Comanche (Thomas Q. Jones) in the flesh. While Luke Cage, Misty Knight (Simone Missick) and Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) came through in Season 1 of the Netflix series, the Marvel hero and his friends may get a visit from old friends.

In the Marvel canon on Luke Cage - or Power Man as he used to be known, the hero almost teamed up with Hernan 'Shades' Alvarez and Comanche as mercenary thugs of Harlem. However, Luke Cage turned down the offer of partnership so that Shades and Comanche struck out on their own.

Inverse points out that Hernan 'Shades' Alvarez (Theo Rossi) and Comanche are integral to the tale of Luke Cage. This being the case, Comanche could actually join Shades in "Luke Cage" Season 2 as a regular.

As the media outlet points out, Misty Knight highlighted that in his sleep Luke Cage mentions two names: Shades and Comanche. While the Marvel Netflix series is yet to do an exposition, Shades and Comanche have their own powers that rival the power Luke Cage possesses.

While Shades' power comes from his specialized sunglasses, Comanche fights with special arrows. "Luke Cage" Season 2 could open the playground and allow the Marvel villains to showboat.

GQ reports that writer Brian Michael Bendis is committed to promoting Luke Cage into Marvel prominence. Whereas Luke Cage seemed more of an acquired taste among Marvel characters, Brian Michael Bendis' version had more commercial viability.

According to Brian Michael Bendis, his hope was not only to bring focus on the inner nobility that Luke Cage has. Brian Michael Bendis also aimed to evolve Luke Cage beyond his origins while keeping his uniqueness.

Netflix is expected to announce the "Luke Cage" Season 2 renewal soon. Meanwhile, fans of the Marvel Netflix series can expect "Luke Cage" Season 2 villains to up their game, but so will currently trending superhero Luke Cage.
