Rashad Evans Knocked Out by MRI Results; Former Light Heavyweight Champion Off UFC 205

Former Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans was knocked out by irregular findings of his MRI results. Dana White instead announced that Rashad Evans and Tim Kennedy match at UFC 205 on Saturday has been cancelled.

MMA Junkie reported that the nature of the former Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad's potential MRI results is still unknown, and he did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The UFC official also said that the promotion is looking into the matter. Tim Kennedy was unaware of the change when he was contacted by MMA Junkie. However, Kennedy did tweet an acknowledgment of the news upon landing in New York, but said he has not received any official words from the UFC.

Instead, Tim Kennedy told MMA Junkie that UFC had advised him to continue on cutting his weight as if he is fighting on Saturday, but the information regarding replacement for his opponent has yet to released.

According to MMA Fighting, the former Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans said in an interview that he was extremely disappointed with his condition and he also explained that he was very healthy and didn't want anyone to worry about him. He further noted that he was fine, physically speaking, and never felt better. It's just the commission and their rules.

The former Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans was set to make his middleweight debut at UFC 205 and currently weighs at 196 pounds. Evans promised that the disappointment will not stop him from fighting again in the cage. In fact, Evans was still hoping that the UFC will book him in December.

UFC 205, which features a trio of title fights, will take its place on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York.
