‘Neko Atsume’ , The Popular Japanese Cat Collecting Mobile Game, Gets Adapted Into A Live-Action Movie! Nyan Cat Approves!

The popular Japanese cat collecting mobile game, "Neko Atsume", took the world by storm last year. Now, "Neko Atsume" is getting a live-action movie treatment!

The live-action movie of "Neko Atsume", entitled "House of Neko Atsume" follows a successful author, Katsu Sakumoto, with a bad case of writer's block. Trying to get off his funk, Katsu Sakumoto retreats to the countryside to get his groove back. What the author unexpectedly finds is a cat. Katsu Sakumoto gets even more depressed when even the cat leaves him. That night, the author leaves food on a corner and is surprised to find it gone the next morning. Thus begins Katsu Sakumoto's quest to lure the cat into his backyard sparking interest and inspiration in his life.

To refresh your memory, like you needed it, "Neko Atsume" is a mobile app where you leave food, toys, and other items in order to lure a myriad of cats to your backyard. You try to get as many kinds of cats as possible to visit your backyard. You get fish from cats that are highly appreciative of the food or items you left for them in your backyard. The fishes act as points you can use to upgrade your backyard. The sharing feature of "Neko Atsume", for a time, filled your Twitter timeline with pics of your collection of kitties eating, napping, playing, or their cute x-buttholes.

The developer of the mobile game "Neko Atsume", Hit-Point is attached to the live-action movie, "House of Neko Atsume". Actor Atsushi Ito of "Train Man: Densha Otoko" fame will star as the author Katsu Sakumoto. Masatoshi Kurata is set to direct it and will be produced by MediAnd. It is slated for a 2017 but no specific date has been announced yet.
