American Hindus Top The Most Educated US Religious Group Survey, Says Pew Research Center

Hindus top the survey of most educated religious group in the United States. As per a study completed by the Pew Research Center, almost 77 percent of Hindus living in America have attained college degree than a total of 27 percent of all American adults.

A study conducted by Pew Research Center, which was based on a survey among 35,000 grownups in 2014, showed that 77 percent of American Hindus had completed university as compared to a total of 27 percent for all U.S. grownups. The study also exposed that 48 percent of Hindus have higher chances to get a postgrad degree, followed by Jews with 31 percent, 11 percent of unaffiliated group of people and Christians with 9 percent.

Based on the findings, the survey inferred that Hindus have a tendency to get greater incomes with nearly 43 percent earning or $100,000 or more, as compared with just 21 percent from unaffiliated groups and 16 percent of Christians. With that said, the data only showed that higher education is indeed the path that will lead to higher earnings.

The second biggest share of people with college degree attainment is Unitarian Universalists with 67 percent. Approximately six out of ten or 59 percent of Jews have attained college degrees, the same goes with both Episcopal Church with 56 percent and Anglican Church with 59 percent.

Some other religious groups who also have a bigger percentage of educational attainment include U.S. Presbyterian Church members and Buddhists, which both have 47 percent; Orthodox Christians who got 40 percent; Muslims got 39 percent; and Mormons who got 33 percent. Catholics, on the other hand, only got 26 percent. According to the research, this should not be surprising as Catholics make up one out of five adults.

The survey also examined the educational attainment of unaffiliated groups. Around 42 percent agnostics and 43 percent atheists have completed university and almost 24 percent of those who said they don't have any religion.
