‘The Voice’ Season 11 Recap: Live Playoffs Rushed? Billy Gilman Soared During Performance [Video]

Fans were furious during "The Voice" Season 11 live playoffs last Monday, Nov. 7. NBC squeezed in the live playoffs and elimination in one show that seemed to result in haphazard decisions by coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys. But the rushed show didn't stop Billy Gilman to make the viewers and audiences cry with his rendition of "Crying" by Roy Orbison.

NBC was apparently squeezing a lot of action in a two-hour episode of "The Voice" to make way for the network's election coverage. But fans were furious as the rushed live playoffs could have significantly affected the contestants' performances during the night.

Fans went to Twitter to share their dismay of the said episode. Others even suggested that the show's producers could have just waited right after the elections.

However, TV Line speculates that changing the show's format could be NBC's way of shaking up the show. Another theory is the show may have done it to "favor heavily promoted front-runners over dangerous dark horses."

"The Voice" episode live playoffs last Monday night was only 120 minutes long and had to pack all 20 performances and the real-time voting part. Fans could be right that maybe some of the judges' decisions were a little off that night. Even Blake Shelton agreed by exclaiming at one point, "This is happening too fast!"

On a lighter note, everyone held back their tears as Billy Gilman of Team Adam sang "Crying" by Roy Orbison. His powerful range was present in all aspects of the song, and that's what made him on the top two in Adam Levine's team, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Gilman's performance trended in YouTube as the crowd cheered him on. He got the top 2 spot along with Josh Gallagher.
