‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Spoilers: Kara & Mon-El Hooking Up? Kara Reacts To Alex, Maggie Romance

Kara (Melissa Benoist) is getting a new love interest on "Supergirl." Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg recently revealed that Mon-El a.k.a. Mike Matthews (Chris Wood) will develop a romance with the Kryptonian alien.

Kreisberg told TVLine that a romance is possible between Kara and Mon-El in future episodes of "Supergirl." He even compared the two's dynamic with Sam (Ted Danson) and Diane (Shelley Long) of the TV series "Cheers" in the sense that Kara is the more level-headed of the two while Mon-El is the lovable fellow.

Kreisberg pointed out that Kara is not dating anyone at the moment after breaking things off with Jimmy (Mehcad Brooks). He added that Benoist and Wood are "great comedic foils for each other" and are both "so incredibly talented," so exploring their characters' relationship as "Supergirl" progresses is a certainty.

Kara helped Mon-El get a job as an intern at CatCo in episode five of "Supergirl" Season 2. However, he was fired by the end of his first day, which mainly revolved around devouring Twizzlers and having sex with James' assistant, Eve Teschmacker (Andrea Brooks).

Kara was disappointed over this turnout but thanks to Alex (Chyler Leigh), she learned to look past Mon-El's shortcomings and realized that she should allow him to choose a job that he actually likes. In that "Supergirl" episode, the Girl of Steel apologized to Mon-El and ensured that he had a guide to National City for his job hunting.

In Nov. 14's "Supergirl" episode titled "Changing," Mon-El considers taking a "less than desirable new career which then leads him to contemplate his motives," SpoilerTV reported. A parasite, meanwhile, encounters Kara and drains her of her super powers and The Guardian (Jimmy's superhero alter ego) helps the fallen heroine.

"Supergirl" Season 2 will also address Alex's coming out and her burgeoning relationship with Maggie (Floriana Lima). Alex and Maggie are definitely heading to a romance but they will take some time to get there.

Kreisberg told TVLine that "Supergirl" is "being respectful of the journey that Alex is making" and it will not happen in just one episode. True enough, the synopsis for next week's episode will feature Alex struggling with "a new reality."

Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly that Kara will be "extremely open" to her sister's relationship, adding that the sisters are so used to prioritizing Kara and her secret identity that it pushed Alex to be hesitant about sharing herself. Nevertheless, this will make them closer as they now had something in common -- turning off "a part of yourself to go along and get along."
