‘Game Of Thrones’ News & Updates: New Deleted Scene Reveals Details About Olenna Tyrell [Video]

“Game of Thrones” Season 6 delivered one of the best seasons of the show. And while waiting for Season 7, HBO released a new deleted scene featuring Olenna Tyrell, portrayed by Diana Rigg, and son Mace Tyrell (Roger Ashton-Griffiths).

The deleted scene between Olenna and Mace shows the Tyrell matriarch trying to uphold her house. “So you actually thought she sent you to the iron bank to negotiate?” Olenna asks Mace in the opening of the deleted scene. She apparently knows that Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) only ordered this as one of her ploys.

The Queen of Thorns was eager to plot a revenge directed to Cersei Lannister. However, her main goal was to save and get her grandchildren back from the High Sparrow. Unfortunately, it was too late for her.

And the Queen of Thorns was right, indeed. It can be recalled that Cersei plotted the death of not only Margery but the entire crowd gathered inside the Great Sept of Baelor in "Game of Thrones" Season 6 Episode, as the Daily Mail recapped.

Does this mean that we’ll see more of Olenna Tyrell in the upcoming season of “Game of Thrones?” It sure is clear that her plot for revenge has only begun. However, she needs help now more than ever especially that Cersei’s sitting on the Iron Throne. At the end of Season 6, she was seen partnering with the Martels of Dorne, which very likely will submit to Daenerys Targaryen who is on her way to Westeros.

The scene was understandably deleted considering that the “Game of Thrones” episodes in season 6 became longer every week. As Yahoo noted, it could have been difficult for the showrunners to include every scene in every episode.

The deleted scene will be included in the Blu-Ray and DVD releases of “Game of Thrones.” The collection is set to be released on Nov. 15.

HBO renewed “Game of Thrones” Season 7 last April 21, but still hasn't announced the pilot date. Watch the Queen of Thornes, Olenna Tyrell, in her best element in the video below.
