With "Fifty Shades Darker" hitting the theaters in 2017, rumors about Jamie Dornan leaving the franchise were alarming the fans. "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder is suggested to replace the Christian Grey role if the speculations are proven correct. Just recently, "Fifty Shades Darker" was awarded an R-rating by the MPAA.

Recent reports suggest that Ian Somerhalder will be replacing Jamie Dornan in the next installments of "Fifty Shades". Speculations about an affair between the "Fifty Shades" stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson was going around. This prompted Dornan's wife, Amelia Warner, to force her husband to step down his role as Christian Grey.

Other reports also suggest that if Dornan leaves the franchise, Dakota will follow his footsteps. If these rumors will be confirmed, "Fifty Shades Darker" might be the last time fans will see Dakota and Dornan tandem.

However, Jamie Dornan told Jimmy Kimmel in an interview that looking for another actor to play as Christian Grey would cost the franchise immensely. When Dornan was asked about being replaced by Ian Somerhalder, he admitted that Somerhalder would be a great choice to play the role of Christian Grey in "Fifty Shades".

On a lighter note, "Fifty Shades Darker" successfully dodged the NC-17 rating much known as the no-child-under-17 rating. The franchise was awarded an R-rating by the Motion Picture Association of America for obvious reasons. According to People, "Fifty Shades Darker" has a strong erotic sexual content plus graphic nudity and language.
