'Star Wars Rogue One' Action-Packed Final Trailer Released

The Empire's colossal AT-ATs and the Rebel's X-wings battle it out as Jyn Erso raids the death star in the final teaser of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

"The Empire's building a weapon capable of destroying an entire planet. They call it the Death Star," Jyn (played by British actress Felicity Jones) says in the teaser. "We need to capture the plans, if there's any hope of destroying it!"

The teaser first premiered during ABC's special "Wonderful World of Disney" in the US on Thanksgiving night. It also features new shots of moody droid K-2SO (voiced by "Serenity" actor Alan Tudyk).

K-2SO is a reprogrammed Imperial security droid calibrated to serve the Rebel Alliance. The droid is also hyped as a droid that could intermingle at Imperial garrisons and systems. And in the teaser, he can be seen instantly taking down a group of Stormtroopers with just a single blast.

"I'll be there for you. The captain said I had to," he tells Jyn. The captain he's referring to is Captain Andor, who is played by Diego Luna, according to E! Online.

Besides the new characters, classic villains like Darth Vader, Jedi mythology and other characters from "A New Hope" are also set to appear. But those who are expecting for one of the Jedi warriors to make an appearance (or even a cameo) will be left disappointed.

"This takes place in a time that's after the Jedi purge in Episode III and before Obi-Wan reemerges and starts training Luke, and before Yoda gets involved," producer and visual-effects supervisor John Knoll, according to Digital Spy. "So this is a dark time when things are very bleak and the Jedi have not come back."

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" also stars Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker and Jimmy Smits, who reprises his role of Bail Organa, the adoptive father of Princess Leia.

"Star Wars Rogue One" hits theaters in the US on Dec. 16. Watch the final teaser trailer below.
