iPhone 8 Rumors, Features & Updates: Glass Casing, Wireless Charging And Bigger Screen?

Who's excited for the iPhone 8? The iPhone 7 has just been recently released, and yet rumors now abound as to what new features the next Apple phone will carry. According to tech reviewers, the iPhone 8 will likely have a bigger screen and be entirely made of glass. Also, it most probably have a wireless charging system so users can charge the phone from a distance.

Apple's iPhone 8 is expected to come in 2017, and is said to have an all-glass casing to allow for wireless charging, MacRumors reports, citing a research note by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. A glass casing is said to facilitate wireless charging, because the metal cases that current iPhones have limit wireless frequencies.

Apple is reported to have been working for several years to introduce an iPhone that looks like a single sheet of glass. In 2017, it is likely to become reality through the iPhone 8, its 10th-anniversary offering.

Kuo is not sure, however, if Apple would actually bundle wireless chargers with the iPhone 8, according to Fortune. What's clear from Kuo's report is that at least one iPhone will have a wireless charger with it.

The source of wireless chargers is likely to be Hon Hai Precision Industry, more popularly known as Foxconn. Last month, Nikkei reported that the company has begun working to produce wireless chargers that will go with the 2017 iPhone.

Kuo's report also says the iPhone 8 will have a revamped telephoto lens for its zooming function. This will greatly improve the phone's photo quality and optical zoom range, according to Forbes.

Other forecasts about the next iPhone include a larger screen size, Fortune reports. Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Christopher Hemmelgarn said in a note this week that the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be 5 inches and 5.8 inches in size, respectively.

As with all highly anticipated gadgets, forecasts and supposed leaks about the iPhone 8 will likely continue until its expected launch in September 2017.
