Not Flakka-Related Murder? Florida Teen Who Bit The Face Of One Of His Victims Had No Hallucinogens In System

The Florida State University student who ate parts of the face of one of his victims reportedly has no traces of hallucinogens in his body. The FBI has confirmed this report.

New York Daily News reported that the student, identified as Austin Harrouff, is accused of killing John Stevens, 59, and his 53-year-old wife Michelle Mishcon. It was believed initially that Harrouff had flakka or bath salts in his system because of the actions he exhibited. He bit off the face of Stevens, showed superhuman strength while being apprehended by the police and was making animal noises.

The FBI, however, did find traces of marijuana and alcohol in Harrouff's system. As reported, minutes after he was apprehended, he told officials to help him because he ate human flesh and that they will not find drugs in his system even if he gets tested. He also suffered from a burned esophagus due to the chemicals he consumed at the garage of the couple he allegedly killed.

After the arrest, Harrouff was taken to a hospital due to the burned esophagus from the chemicals he consumed. He was in a coma for a number of weeks, Mirror reported.

Harrouff's attorney Nellie King argued that her client is mentally ill. The teen's father also suggested that he might have been suffering from undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenia. Moments before the killing, Harrouff was supposed to have dinner with his family but he got mad and stormed off.

He is charged with first-degree murder as well as attempted murder because he stabbed the neighbor of the couple, Jeff Fisher, who tried to intervene during the killings. Harrouff has not pleaded guilty to the accusations.

Photos from the night when Harrouff was apprehended were also released. In it, Harrouff was seen having blood in his mouth face, hands and his clothes. His eyes were also almost shut in one of the snaps. Flesh and blood could also be seen inside his mouth.

Harrouff was not shot by authorities as they feared that Stevens was still alive. They used a stun gun but it did not have any effect on Harrouff. They used a police dog to try and subdue him.
