'24: Legacy' Latest News: Early Reviews Are Here As Original '24' Celebrates 15 Years - Get The Details!

"24: Legacy" will begin its run in February 2017 on Fox but the early reviews are already coming out. It's just in time for the commemoration of the show's original series run as "24" celebrates 15 years this November.

According to Slash Film, "24: Legacy," which has a new principal character in Eric Carter (Corey Hawkins), keeps the action as exciting as "24" with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland). While the rebooted series introduces new players, the tone of the show is reminiscent of the very first season, complete with split screen and the suspense.

LRM Online describes the pilot of "24: Legacy" as "pretty great." The performance of the new stars is commendable. There have been some concerns that the show might not carry on because of the absence of Jack Bauer, who is considered one of TV's biggest heroes. But based on the review, it looks like the character of Eric Carter is filling in his shoes pretty well.

"24: Legacy" is a great extension to the "24" universe, according to The Koalition. The site commends its classic storytelling, heart-stopping scenes, as well as its stellar cast. It looks like viewers old and new will have something to fill in their TV schedule come February.

Meanwhile, "24" first aired on Fox in November 2001, hence the network have been celebrating the show's success and influence this month. Former Fox head Sandy Grushow recalls that the series almost didn't make it on air.

Budget-constraints was an initial problem so Fox thought they would cast an unknown for Jack Bauer. Settling with Kiefer Sutherland was one of the network's best decisions.

But tragedy struck before "24" aired with the terrorist attack on 9/11. Fox thought it would be better to pull out the series about terrorism. "Needless to say we went into the premiere [which aired on Nov. 6, 2001] with concerns," said Grushow, according to Chron.

The ratings to the pilot episode tanked, but Fox shifted the show's schedule that helped gain viewers. The series was also sustained because of marketing strategies. "24" ran for nine seasons. The "24: Legacy" reboot would be its 10th in the franchise.
