'The Edge of Seventeen' Review: Teenage Drama-Comedy Disappointed Viewers? Movie Lacks Edge, Humor And Everything Else?

"The Edge of Seventeen" starred by "Pitch Perfect's" Hailee Steinfeld is a drama mixed with comedy kind of movie which story revolves generally around any teenagers' life. According to several reviews, the movie failed to please its viewers as it lacks humor and class.

The movie grabbed the gist of what is important in today's society but has failed to portray it in the best way possible. "The Edge of Seventeen" talks about how a teenager looks at life and how they think or solve their issues and conflicts.

Other reports even compared "The Edge of Seventeen" to "Juno" which are not really comparable having different storylines although both emphases on teenagers and their lives. As per Substream Magazine, the movie will allow viewers to see and understand a teenager's mind, particularly one teenager who is an introvert and depressed about life.

Although many have expressed disappointments with the film, "The Edge of Seventeen" still merits the public's attention, most especially those who know someone or is struggling in his or her teenage years.

Hailee Steinfeld, known as Emily Junk and Mattie Ross in her previous movies, will portray the lead character Nadine, the high school loner. She only considers having only one best friend in the person of Haley Lu Richardson.

With the usual status quo at school, both Nadine and Krista (Haley Richardson) are left on the sidelines and out of place. Everything will change after Nadine's ONLY best friend develops feelings for her perfect brother Blake Jenner's Darian.

Since Krista and Darian started dating, Nadine feels not a little but a lot left out that she convinced herself that she got no friend at all. Nadine finds the console in his history professor played by "Hunger Games" star Woody Harrelson.

According to Deadline, considered to be one of the smartest comedies of today, “The Edge of Seventeen” was only made possible the moment Hailee Steinfeld agreed to play the role. “The Edge of Seventeen” cast will include Alexander Calvert as Nadine’s high school crush, Hayden Szeto as Nadine’s first and awkward date, and Kyra Sedgwick as Nadine’s mom.

“The Edge of Tomorrow” is a poignant film which talks about the complexity of life, especially for a teenager, and how one should do in order to survive. Nobody can tell if the movie will move you or not, you have to see it for yourself.
