Apple Releases MacOS 10.12.2 Complete with Emojis, New Color Explosion Wallpapers, Bug Fixes and Additions, & More!

This morning Apple announced the release of macOS 10.12.2. The update is the latest installment to Apple's current operating system, the macOS Sierra. With the update comes a host of performance improvements for Mac users as well as some new features and small adjustments.

Mac users can now enjoy the host of new emoji that iPhone users received earlier this week as it comes with the update, per Cult of Mac. MacBook Pro users will also notice that Apple has removed the "Time Remaining" function in the battery indicator. The battery remaining percentage will still be shown but not the estimated remaining usage time.

Apple feels that this function is not always accurate since usage, apps, and tasks affect battery consumption differently every time depending on the user and thus constantly changes on the fly.

New color explosion wallpapers are also included in the update. According to Mac Stories, four new wallpapers aptly called Abstract Shapes, Color Burst 1, Color Burst 2, and Color Burst 3. These Color Burst wallpapers were featured during Apple's MacBook Pro event last October. In fact, they have also made cameos in earlier advertisements for the new MacBook Pro.

The macOS 10.12.2 update is free and can be downloaded directly from the App Store or by checking for software updates under the Apple menu on your Mac. The following improvements are included in the macOS 10.12.2: an improved setup and reliability of Auto Unlock, setup and opt-out experience for iCloud Desktop and Documents, audio quality when using Siri and FaceTime with Bluetooth headphones, and stability of Photos when creating and ordering books.

The following were added to the macOS 10.12.2: a Chinese Trackpad Handwriting button to the Touch Bar Control Strip, support for taking screenshots of the Touch Bar using the Grab app or Cmd-Shift-6 shortcut, and support for new installations of Windows 8 and Windows 7 using Boot Camp on supported Macs.

A few tweeks and bug fixes were also done to the MacOS 10.12.2. Apple managed to fix the issue that caused the Touch Bar emoji picker to appear on the display, the issue where System Integrity Protection was disabled on some MacBook Pro (October 2016) computers, the issue with the delivery of Optimized Storage alerts, the issue where incoming Mail messages did not appear when using a Microsoft Exchange account, and the issue that prevented installation of Safari Extensions downloaded outside the Safari Extensions Gallery. Apple also resolved in the macOS 10.12.2 the graphics issues on MacBook Pro (October 2016) computers.

macOS Sierra is the latest Mac operating system. And this current upgrade follows the release of the latest OS for Apple last September.
