Nintendo Switch’s Architecture Shows VR Capability, A Possibility Of A Mario VR?

A post in NeoGaf's forum contained some of the answers related to the mystery surrounding Nintendo Switch's capabilities. The post contained the complete architecture through patents filed by Nintendo thru the United States Patent and Trademark office. These documents were composed of patent applications for the game controllers, supporting device, charging device, controller system, information processing system, information processing device, and accessories.

The Nintendo Switch architecture revealed some key information related to its power and capabilities. The patents show that the Nintendo Switch's tablet utilizes touchscreen technology. The Joycons are equipped with motion sensors, shoulder buttons, and infrared motion tracking system. Virtual Reality may also be one of Nintendo Switch's features. The VR speculation was based on one of the diagrams that show what looks like a head gear with a dedicated slot for the tablet.

Recent discussions and rumors also state that Nintendo Switch will not be as powerful as the PS4. An article by VentureBeat stated that Nintendo Switch is using Nvidia's last generation Maxwell graphics processing architecture. These means that Nintendo Switch is still powerful enough to play traditional Nintendo games but will not match the graphical fidelity of the PlayStation 4. The good thing about this is that Nintendo Switch will not cost as much as the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One.

All these years Nintendo has never been an active competitor of both the Xbox and the PlayStation. The comparison of performance based on teraflops will soon become irrelevant. This is due to the fact that Nintendo's priority is not the power of their consoles but with their unique market. This has already been clarified by the President of Sony's Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida in an interview he has with Digital Spy. When Mr. Yoshida was asked the question "Do you still see Nintendo as competition in terms of hardware sales, or do they now exist in a completely different market?" Mr. Yoshida answered, "I think they're going to cover a new market for themselves."
