'The Defenders' Air Date, Cast News: 'Daredevil' Kingpin Vincent D'Onofrio Confirms Wilson Fisk Status

After much speculation on his participation in "The Defenders," Vincent D' Onofrio finally confirms whether or not he's reprising his role as the Kingpin Wilson Fisk. The actor has only two words about the possibility of his "Daredevil" character joining the other Netflix shows and it's not a good news for the fans.

When Marvel announced the development of "The Defenders," which involves four of its Netflix lead characters from Hell's Kitchen -- Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Danny Rand of the "Iron Fist -- fans thought Kingpin would become a big part of it too. The character is integral to this TV universe because he is one of Hell's Kitchen's most powerful villains. But he was last seen in prison in "Daredevil" Season 2.

In a Twitter post, Vincent D' Onofrio was direct about his reply to a fan who asked about the Kingpin in "The Defenders." "No chance," the actor bluntly said when asked if Wilson Fisk would be in the upcoming series.

The reply suggests that "The Defenders" could follow events after "Daredevil" Season 2, which still leaves the Kingpin in prison. But it might also be because Vincent D' Onofrio has too much on his plate to be working at another series at this point. He will be seen next on television in "Emerald City" as well as in the movie adaptation/reboot of CHiPs.

Last September he was non-committal about playing Kingpin again, as per his interview with Latino Review. But he did say he would love to be back in the Marvel/Netflix TV universe if there is good material.

Meanwhile, "The Defenders" viewers shouldn't be too disappointed with the biggest villain being out of the picture. The show already enlisted Sigourney Weaver for the big bad role, but her character continues to be a top secret on the set.

"I have the most delicious character," the actress hinted, according to Variety. "She's really smart, and she's very in charge," she added, but that's all viewers will learn about her character for now.
