'Sense8' Christmas Special Air Date, News: Here's A Quick Refresher Before Watching On Netflix

After a long wait, "Sense8" will air a two-hour Christmas special on Netflix on Friday, Dec. 23. The sci-fi drama, produced by the writers and directors Lana and Lilly Wachowski, first ran in the summer of 2015.

With the long follow-up between seasons, "Sense8" viewers might have already forgotten what has gone down in the first season. So, here's a quick refresher before tuning into the Christmas special when it's out.

"Sense8" features eight different people scattered around the world, who learn that they have a mental and emotional connection. Their ability to sense each other also reveals the deep dark secrets they have about themselves.

CAPHEUS. The driver Capheus had the help of Riley and Sun in "Sense8" Season 1 with regards saving Kabaka's daughter. Kabaka might reward him for this, but that means that he has also become the enemy of Kabaka's enemies. This role has been recast for Season 2, according to Deadline.

KALA & WOLFGANG. Kala (Tina Desai) saw how Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) killed his uncle. He pushes her to marry her fiancé and forget about him. But Kala might not likely follow her great love's wishes.

LITO. Actor Lito Rodriguez (Miguel Angel Silvestre) had an agreement with his friend Daniela about her posing as his girlfriend to save his career. But in truth, he's actually involved with Hernando, his long-time boyfriend. A blackmailer found out his secret and threatened to expose him. When "Sense8" Season 1 ended, Lito decided that he would be out and proud, despite the consequences to his career.

NOMI. The transwoman and hacktivist Nomi (Jamie Clayton) has been studying a map with Amanita in their effort to help out Will against Whispers. But for some reason she has lost her connection with fellow sensates Will and Riley.

RILEY. Riley (Tuppence Middleton) saved Will and her rest of the sensates from Whispers and it nearly cost her life. She and Will professed their love for each other in the end.

SUN. Sun (Bae Doona) was locked in prison by the end of the season. It's still unclear how her story will progress in the upcoming season given that she's restricted behind bars.

WILL. At the end of "Sense8" Season 1, Will (Brian J. Smith) stumbled upon a connection to Whispers (Terence Mann), who isn't part of the original eight sensates. The problem is, Whispers works with an organization that has evil plans about his kind.

According to Netflix Life, the "Sense8" Christmas special is expected to drop on the streaming site at 12:00 midnight on Friday, Dec. 23. The second season, on the other hand, is set to air in May 2015.
