TV Series Reunions For 2016 Review, Did ‘Gilmore Girls’ & ’The X-Files’ Meet Expectations?

The year 2016 can easily be described as a year of nostalgia for the US television as the viewers see many hit series from before made its way back to the small screen. Some of the notable TV revivals include the comedy-drama, "Gilmore Girls," and the suspense thriller, "X-Files." Many were happy to see the cast of their favorite TV shows reprise their roles once more, but the question is did the TV revivals live up to expectations?

According to E Online, the return of the Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) duo thrilled their many fans worldwide. However, the review thinks that this reunion failed to meet expectations because the creators did not offer an organized plot. In fact, the six-episode revival series for "X-Files" even had a cliffhanger finale.

A review posted in Rotten Tomatoes for "X-Files" reveal a mediocre 64% rating for the show. The comments in the said site claim that the reboot of the series is laden with flaws. Despite that observation, the loyal followers of the show said they are still grateful for the chance to see their favorite detectives together again.

Meanwhile, E Online considers the 'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" the best TV reboot of 2016. This is because the heart-warming series successfully tied up all the loose ends from its rather hanging finale back in 2007.

Moreover, aside from answering the questions from Season 7, the reunion also offered a future scenario for the characters. However, the revival is not perfect as well. One flaw is the fact that Liza Weil (playing the role of Paris) could have been given more exposure.

The "Gilmore Girls" reunion brought back almost all original cast including Alexis Bledel, Lauren Graham, and Kelly Bishop. Which other TV shows would you like to have a revival for the coming year? Share your thoughts in the comment box below.
