'Once Upon A Time' Season 5 Spoilers: Regina is The Hero This Time Around, Henry To Change Emma's Fate? -- Get All The Details

In the last season of "Once Upon A Time," there was a reversal of roles—Emma the Savior takes the power of the Dark One to save Regina and there were reports suggesting that Regina will be the Savior in the upcoming season. Now that "Once Upon A Time" season 5 will soon air, there are several speculations on what to expect on the show.

Among the most favorite topic about the upcoming season is how to save Emma (Jennifer Morrison) from being the Dark One. According to Venture Capital Post, the most popular theory and probably the most reliable one is through the help of Merlin, who will be played by Elliot Knight.

The report suggests that the early episodes of  "Once Upon A Time" season 5 will feature the rescue of Emma. Regina will work with the Charmings, Hook and Emma's son, Henry (Jared Gilmore) to locate Merlin. Merlin is the powerful wizard who holds the key to defeat the darkness.

However, aside from finding Merlin, the group has another option to save Emma and this involves Henry. According to Realty Today, in the previous season Henry had the opportunity to rewrite the book before his mother turns to be the Dark One, but he refused to do so and broke the Author's quill instead. There are speculations that Henry regrets his poor choice but he will eventually find a way to rewrite his mother's fate.

The show's executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis spoke with Entertainment Weekly for a Comic-Con edition of The Hot Seat. On the said event, they were asked if there will be more of Henry being the Author in the upcoming season, to which Kitsis replied with a straight "yes." This suggests that Henry will discover his new capabilities and skills as the new Author, which may raise the possibility that he can indeed rewrite the book to alter Emma's fate. This will be something to look forward to.

In an earlier report from Parent Herald, among the new features of "Once Upon A Time" season 5 is the arrival of Pixar's first Disney princess, Merida from "Brave." Horowitz confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Merida is part of Emma's journey as the Dark Swan because the two will cross path before the new character meets the rest of the show's heroes and villains.

Horowitz also told TVLIne about Merida and Belle's adventure: "We've always wondered what would happen if Belle and Merida went on an adventure together.. We hope you do, too, because it's coming!"

"Once Upon A Time" season 5 will premiere on Sept. 27, Sunday, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
