Showrunners Teased ‘Grimm’ Season 6 Has ‘Great Sorrow & Great Hope’ & Explained Why Only 13 Episodes

Season 6 of "Grimm" will not be as long as its previous ones. Showrunners David Greenwalt and James Kouf explained why. The showrunners have also revealed several spoilers for the fans to feast on prior to its premiere on Jan. 6, 2017.

According to James Kouf, they actually had the chance to get 22 episodes for season 6. However, the showrunner also admitted they were frightened to do such long number of episodes and are now comfortable with just a little more than half. David Greenwalt added that they have already done long seasons for the past five years.

The showrunners explained they just had the necessary creativity juices and the "energy and the clarity" to do 13 "great" episodes. Noticeably, the showrunners used the term "great" to describe the 13 episodes which seem to promise fans can indeed expect "great" episodes for season 6.

Furthermore, the showrunners told TVLine that the last three episodes are deemed as "one giant movie." Fans of "Grimm" should look forward to this "one giant movie" split into three final episodes which suggest an incredible plot that one episode is not enough to hold such storyline and that it would extend into three episodes.

Silas Weir Mitchell also vouched for the final three episodes of season 6. The actor explained that their avid followers will now get answers to the questions which have been lingering in their minds all throughout the past seasons. Mitchell stressed that the fans deserve to be satisfied with the ending.

Meanwhile, the magazine has also listed a recap of the spoilers they have acquired from their visit to the set of "Grimm." Fans can expect a new villain will arise in the middle of season 6. Also, this final season will feature the iconic nighttime outdoor scenes which will give the fans that ambiance of the great, black forest plus its fairy tale effect.

Also, Greenwalt teased that fans should look forward to the finale as it will feature an extremely interesting time jump. The showrunner teased there will be some playing with time.

Moreover, fans of "Grimm" will get to know more details about the magic stick of Nick. According to Greenwalt, any speculations regarding the magic stick will be answered.

The showrunners ended the interview by teasing that "Grimm" final season will highlight "Great sorrow and great hope." Check out the final season of "Grimm" when it returns on Friday, Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
