‘Dissidia : Final Fantasy’s’ New Character Will be Revealed Live Next Week!

"Dissidia: Final Fantasy" is adding a new character in its roster. The revelation of the character will be done in style.

Square Enix recently announced a Nico Nico broadcast for their fighting game, based on the article by DualShockers. The introduction of a new character is also a part of the said announcement. Noctis from "Final Fantasy XV" is currently the crowd favorite. Takeo Kujiraoka, director of "Dissidia: Final Fantasy" also hinted the possible appearance of Noctis from "Final Fantasy XV" during an interview with Dengeki. The broadcast will happen on January 10 at 9 pm Japan time.

"Dissidia: Final Fantasy" is a fighting game composed of characters from the "Final Fantasy" series. The game was the brainchild of Tetsuya Nomura who was the director of "Kingdom Hearts." Designed and developed originally for the PlayStation Portable system and was released in Japan on December 18, 2008. The version received positive reviews from critics and sold 660,000 copies in Japan and 130,000 copies in the US in a span of four days and was tagged as the best-selling PSP game for 2009, according to Gamasutra.

The success of the PSP version led the developers to continue the storyline for the next gen consoles. The new version is currently being developed using the principles of the PlayStation 4 system. An arcade version developed by Team Ninja was also released on November 25, 2015, for Japan only. This arcade version came with 13 original characters which include "Final Fantasy VII's" Sephiroth, Cloud Strife, Squall Lionheart from "Final Fantasy VIII" and Tidus from "Final Fantasy X."

2017 is a big year for the "Final Fantasy" series which launched its very first installment in 1987. After 30 years the series produced 15 games, six motion pictures and a lot of spin-off games. The series is considered as one of the foundations of the RPG genre which inspired the creation of some of the biggest communities in gaming.
