Peanuts App Makes It Easier For Mothers To Connect Online; How Does It Work?

Mothers will soon find it easy to connect with fellow moms with the launch this week of the social app Peanuts. The app was developed by Michelle Kennedy, former deputy CEO of Badoo, in partnership with Greg Orlowski, former Chief Technology Office and co-founder of Deliveroo. The new app is reportedly being funded by angel investors including Facebook's Workplace director Julien Cordorniou.

Kennedy was inspired by her experience as a mom who discovered that a new language was required in modern parenting, and unfortunately, she wasn't well-verse for it. The feeling of isolation and frustration immediately came when she realized she could not relate to anyone with her new experiences as a mom, as she did not know other women who also have babies.

The platform of Peanuts is easily recognizable, because even the connecting algorithms and user experience have been influenced by Kennedy's previous work on dating apps, according to Evening Standard. The dating apps, however, are meant to connect potential dates, while the Peanuts app intends to connect mothers who are having the same experiences. These women could be working moms, full time mothers, or those how have just gone on maternity leave.

"There's this generation of women growing up with an expectation of beautiful products," Kennedy said. "And a tone of voice that speaks to us. Why should we have to change those expectations because we're becoming mums," she added.

Peanuts could give other parenting website like Mumsnet a run for their money, as per Tech Crunch. Kennedy said they had a hard time convincing investors at first, but finally got them to say yes when they realized its potentials.

She said women will love the ability to multitask using the Peanuts app. It also allows users to accomplish something in just four steps, making it possible for moms to engage socially while still doing their responsibilities as mothers.

There are other social networking sites like Facebook that allows women to connect, but the Peanuts apps specifically caters to the interest and needs of moms, according to Digital Trends. Peanuts allow mothers, who may not have the time to go out of their homes, to meet socially online and establishment a connection.

Users, who are called mamas, can log in using their Facebook account. It also allows easy profile creation just by answering several mother-related questions.
